D.O.B.A.

D.O.B.A. is a short film I did with director Chris K. Daniels, and has racked up a good amount of views on Youtube. Its about a young man who attends an art instillation that makes him look back on his past actions. It was a great project to work on, being that I'm the only "humaniod" character in it, it was quite different than other sets I've been on. Check it out, and more in the "CRAFT" page!

Adirondack Film Festival

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Adirondack Film Festival this past weekend. As far as film festivals go, this one was pretty top notch. The whole thing felt like a giant convention. There were so many amazing films, great people to meet, and fun things to do. The Summit, directed by Micah Khan, and an episode of Mix & Master, directed by Justin Stewart, both had showings during the festival. It was such an honor to see them show on the big screen.

One of the best surprises was that an artist made artwork on a lot of the movies. Nothing makes you feel validated like fan art!

Overall, I highly recommend this film festival. And if you wanna see THE SUMMIT, check out the CRAFT tab on my page to view it!

New update to the site, with some new goodies for me, such as new videos in the CRAFT tab, a new tab dedicated to the show MIX & MASTER, plus this poster image from a short film I did recently.
Shot this back in Upstate New York, where I played a member of the Cartel, sent to find a man who stole from them.

Also Mix and Master is back in full blown power, releasing weekly videos, so catch up on that if you haven't yet!
And a short film I did a little back, The Summit, has be re-colorized (?) to look extra nice! Give that a whirl too!

Starting Point

So its been a good while since I posted, though for good reason. Life has been hectic these last... wow.... Guess its been a good couple of months. But I've been busy. I've been working on a few projects, meeting new people, and developing more as a person and an actor. But the biggest news to start is a change of venue. Recently I moved out to the Boston area for a couple or reasons. One was to support my loving girlfriend as she attended Grad School at Brandice University. She's studying Public Policy and went into details many times about her plans, though they were often over my head. Another reason was a change of market so to speak, and I've already begun to delve into what Boston has to offer in terms of acting. Its going to be hard, starting fresh again, but I'm excited for it. And finally, I've begun writing for my own passion project, and being that my family was originally from Boston, it seemed like the perfect location for it to take place.

In the meantime, I've been lucky enough to be a part of some great productions, so check out some photos from them! Check out the gallery for some more photos!

Hey Uli-ers..... Not sure if thats gonna catch on. I'll make it happen. Its been a while since I posted, but I have been quite busy working on a lot of things. Some fell through, some are in progress, but all is well. The biggest thing is I might be moving sooner than planned, and if all goes well, the west coast will be my new home. More to come on all the projects Ive been working on soon. For now check out this video I appeared in, helping You-Tuber D-Cubed with a skit!

Ulisses: Age of Kickstarter

Warmer weather is here, and with it comes new projects of creativity! The air is brisk, the sun shining, and cameras will be rolling again. But of course, in order for ideas to be brought to life, there unfortunately needs to be funding. By now most have heard of the crowd funding site, Kickstarter, and it is here that dreams come true....or...are backed. I have had the fortune of being cast in a few projects this summer, and all three of their Kickstarters have gone live! Please take the time to learn about each one, and if you want to see great work brought to life, donate to one (or all. All would be amazing.)

MIX & MASTER:
The first up is the wonderfully written project that I've mentioned before, Mix & Master! In case you're new to the scene, Mix & Master is the story of a once prosperous recording studio known as The Vault, now on the downhill spiral due to the incompetence of its producer, Mark Reid. Its not just his fault though, most of the staff and a few of its musical artists aren't really the most responsible of people. Still, they will struggle to work together to make something beautiful sounding..... or they will end up crashing, burning, and possibly behind bars. That's left yet to be determined...
Filmed in the style of such shows as The Office, Mix & Master takes a unique twist on the modern day documentary, setting it in the music industry. The cameras not only follow the cast along in this show, but also are part of the story. Music plays a large role as well, with each episode containing an original musical piece. This is a project that I've been excited about for a while now. Not only do I have a role in it as Caleb, but I am also a part of the writing team as well. These are some of the most passionate people I've worked with, and they are also spot on fantastic. To learn more about the project, check out the Kickstarter listed below. Also included are some links to the Pilot Episode to get a feel of what's to come, as well as a link to the specially made Kickstarter Video, Day in the Life (of the Virtueless and Ignorant)

PLANEWALKER:
Up next is a project being filmed out in Utica, NY. Planewalker is a  Sci-Fi thriller is about a young man named Ryan Black, who since a child has been hearing voices behind closed doors....even when no one is on the other side. Ryan learns to keep to himself and ignore the strange voices for most of his life, but one day he accidentally stumbles through the door that whispered to him, and finds himself in a parallel realm. Planewalker promises to tell an exciting story of power and responsibility, and how sometimes your best ally is yourself.

I play the role of Bull in this project. Filming hasn't begun yet, but I know its going to go in the right direction. The lead is played by Mu-Shaka Benson, who I have worked with before in Worlds Apart Films' short film, Unearth. Mu-Shaka was a nothing short of a pleasure to work with, and I am looking forward to doing so again. If you want a thrilling story to leave you on the edge of your seat, then definitely help bring this one to life by donating! Check out the Kickstarter page below to learn more about it!

THE LAST FRANKENSTEIN:
Last but not least, we have The Last Frankenstein, a horror film that is a modern day spin-off of the original story. It tells the tale of Jason Frankenstein, the last of his bloodline, as he suffers in his stagnant life, trying to recreate the experiment that brought legend to his family's name. When he is confronted by a creature from his past, he finds the drive he needs to finish his experiment.

This will be the first real horror film that I've been a part of. I play the role of  Kevin Winsted, one of a pair of drug dealing paramedics sent to harvest body parts. The film follows the style of the 70's and 80's exploitation slasher flicks, and will feature genre icons Roger Perry and Jim Boelsen. If you are a fan of the horror genre and classic tales, please donate to make this film a reality! Check the Kickstarter page below, as well as a link to a fundraising party May 23 if you live around the Amsterdam NY area.

These all promise to be great projects, and you'll be doing so many creative minds a huge favor by donating, so I send my thanks in advance to all who help! Please spread the word!

Hamlet at the Capital Repertory Theatre

This past month I have had the honor of spending all my time working on a production of Shakespeare's HAMLET at the CAPITAL REPERTORY THEATRE in Albany, New York. I play the role of MARCELLUS in this great tragedy. This has been an enormous experience for me, and has strengthened my stride in the direction I want my career to go. Being my first professional theater production, I have been exposed to what its like to be truly working my craft. Everything from the set design and music, to the costumes and selection of the script has made this show truly amazing. Not to mention the fantastic actors I have the pleasure of working with. Composed of a mixture of Equity actors from NYC and Non-Union local actors, its a collaboration that really sparks this tragic filled story. Many of the Equity actors have worked in film and been on broadway, so that adds an element of nervousness to my experience that will only help improve my abilities, as I'm exposed to an idea of what my future could hold.

The play is directed by the great KEVIN MCGUIRE of Broadway fame, and he's vision of this take on Hamlet is stunning. Setting the events in the 1920's brings a new breath of life to it, as well as filling his desire for a dark and broody set. Though technically bare, the stage comes to life with the movement of two large monuments that spin and dance around the stage between scenes, making the set itself a character in the plot of this tale.
Its a Shakespeare for the ages type of thing. The show is action packed and fast paced, delivering the classic tale with some new surprises, such as a beautifully composed take on Ophelia's song, imagined by the wonderful MICHAEL ROTH, and brought to life by the gorgeous voice of VANESSA STERLING. Its definitely a show that will leave your memories haunted. Opening night was a blast and a true success, with many more nights following. The production runs until May 10th, so there's still a chance to see it! Following the CAPITAL REPERTORY'S Facebook page will give you updates, interviews, and behind the scenes footage of the production, so make sure to do so to get the fullest out of this piece!

Check out the interview with PATRICK ROONEY (Rosencrantz) and Myself:

We love getting to know our cast! So we asked two of our cast members, Ulisses and Patrick, how being in a production here at theREP is different than other places they've worked.

The Intern

With winter's end approaching (hopefully,) the warmer weather will bring the beginning of Mix & Master. With the pilot filmed, and the next four episodes written and under review, we take a step closer to this awesome show seeing the light of day. And in order to get others as excited for it as the rest of the cast and myself are, the pilot episode has now gone live for everyone's viewing pleasure!

Now is the time to get yourself well acquainted with The Vault, the area's most beloved recording studio. Get to know Reid and his minions.....err... sorry, coworkers. And fall in love with Green Eggs and Hamilton (And Caleb). Yes, Green Eggs and Hamilton (And Caleb) are destined to be the next big hip hop duo (trio)! I mean, how can you not love these guys?
Picture
The Pilot was written a few years ago, and unfortunately my character of Caleb was not written as a substantial character. But due to the charm and all around lovableness of my personality, Caleb is being developed into a full rich character for you to love and buy merchandise of......(side note, Caleb plushie?)

Watch the pilot above and get a feel for the characters, and get your appetite whet for more to come, as this is a series definitely worth watching. You can stay up to tabs on production and episode releases on the Mix & Master Facebook page here, or check back here at my website for updates!

So watch, enjoy, share, and stay tuned for more Green Eggs, Hamilton and Caleb! ........ I mean,    Mix & Master!

Mala EnTrana

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful privilege to work with a bountiful pool of talent on a music video in New York City. The song is titled "Asesinos" by the band Mala Entrana. Now this was quite a unique experience for me. Shot in two weekends, this was a big step in stepping out of my comfort zone. Traveling down to the city to work with a large production of people where I knew no one was daunting enough, but to be painted up as a demon, and told to just let loose with anger? Talk about a natural high. This was an example of one of the many things I love about acting. To just truly be someone, or something, different. Having a different personality, a different view on life, even if its only for a few minutes at a time... Its exhilarating, and to be a demon is taking it to a new level. My mind was just an array of different stories running a mile a minute setting up my backstory for this... Demonic Ulisses.

Demonic Ulisses
As out of my comfort zone as it was to be meeting up with total strangers and just letting loose, it turned out to be rather easy due to the friendly nature and high level of professionalism that the cast, crew, and musicians on the video had.The video was produced by an amazing photographer, Alain Aguilar. Make up was done by Jonathan Pantaleon and Jenny Diaz. The director of photography was Ruben Rodas. They were accompanied by a large professional group of talented people, who all worked non-stop into the night on each day of the shoot without complaints. This video had a lot packed into each day too. I mean, demons, vampires, generals, flame swingers, punk goth chicks, gangsters and more. So the first day of shoot alone went from early morning to early morning the next day straight. And that make up that took many hours to apply to me? Not the easiest thing to get out at 2:30 in the morning with just sink water. Both weekends I caught a lot of looks from people on the subway, still being covered in paint and fake blood.

One of the greatest pleasures was sharing this rewarding, although exhausting, experience in costume with other amazingly talented actors. Though I met a lot of new people, a few names stuck out that I was delighted to work with, such as Jason Torres, Romina Schwedler, and Karim Mohamed Marie (pictured above respectively.) Learning about what their experiences have been, and seeing them progress in the same line of business as me is inspiring. From life acting in the city, to traveling all the way from Russia, it was insightful for me to see how other's do the same thing in completely different situations. Plus, so much fun to see them "lose control" on camera.

Mala Entrana themselves were great musicians, and although we didn't speak the same language, it was such a thrill to meet them. They loved making this video, and that excitement really carried the morale with all the others involved.
This was definitely an experience for the ol' scrapbook for me. And personally, a step in the right direction that I want my career to go in. It broadened my horizons, both in networking and music (the style of Mala Entrana not being a usual type I listen to, but I love the song.) And it allowed me to appreciate hard work and dedication from new people that are as passionate about what they do as I am. So I am looking forward to more jobs like this one, and possibly working with some of these people again in the future. So please do enjoy the official trailer for Mala Entrana's "Asesinos" and appreciate the darkness for a moment. Can't always be sunshine.

............. Although we can always have some fun. Check out some behind the scenes photo of us working/goofing off!
