Warmer weather is here, and with it comes new projects of creativity! The air is brisk, the sun shining, and cameras will be rolling again. But of course, in order for ideas to be brought to life, there unfortunately needs to be funding. By now most have heard of the crowd funding site, Kickstarter, and it is here that dreams come true....or...are backed. I have had the fortune of being cast in a few projects this summer, and all three of their Kickstarters have gone live! Please take the time to learn about each one, and if you want to see great work brought to life, donate to one (or all. All would be amazing.)
MIX & MASTER:
The first up is the wonderfully written project that I've mentioned before, Mix & Master! In case you're new to the scene, Mix & Master is the story of a once prosperous recording studio known as The Vault, now on the downhill spiral due to the incompetence of its producer, Mark Reid. Its not just his fault though, most of the staff and a few of its musical artists aren't really the most responsible of people. Still, they will struggle to work together to make something beautiful sounding..... or they will end up crashing, burning, and possibly behind bars. That's left yet to be determined...
Filmed in the style of such shows as The Office, Mix & Master takes a unique twist on the modern day documentary, setting it in the music industry. The cameras not only follow the cast along in this show, but also are part of the story. Music plays a large role as well, with each episode containing an original musical piece. This is a project that I've been excited about for a while now. Not only do I have a role in it as Caleb, but I am also a part of the writing team as well. These are some of the most passionate people I've worked with, and they are also spot on fantastic. To learn more about the project, check out the Kickstarter listed below. Also included are some links to the Pilot Episode to get a feel of what's to come, as well as a link to the specially made Kickstarter Video, Day in the Life (of the Virtueless and Ignorant)

S01E1.5: Day in the Life (of the Virtueless and Ignorant)
Up next is a project being filmed out in Utica, NY. Planewalker is a Sci-Fi thriller is about a young man named Ryan Black, who since a child has been hearing voices behind closed doors....even when no one is on the other side. Ryan learns to keep to himself and ignore the strange voices for most of his life, but one day he accidentally stumbles through the door that whispered to him, and finds himself in a parallel realm. Planewalker promises to tell an exciting story of power and responsibility, and how sometimes your best ally is yourself.
I play the role of Bull in this project. Filming hasn't begun yet, but I know its going to go in the right direction. The lead is played by Mu-Shaka Benson, who I have worked with before in Worlds Apart Films' short film, Unearth. Mu-Shaka was a nothing short of a pleasure to work with, and I am looking forward to doing so again. If you want a thrilling story to leave you on the edge of your seat, then definitely help bring this one to life by donating! Check out the Kickstarter page below to learn more about it!

THE LAST FRANKENSTEIN:
Last but not least, we have The Last Frankenstein, a horror film that is a modern day spin-off of the original story. It tells the tale of Jason Frankenstein, the last of his bloodline, as he suffers in his stagnant life, trying to recreate the experiment that brought legend to his family's name. When he is confronted by a creature from his past, he finds the drive he needs to finish his experiment.
This will be the first real horror film that I've been a part of. I play the role of Kevin Winsted, one of a pair of drug dealing paramedics sent to harvest body parts. The film follows the style of the 70's and 80's exploitation slasher flicks, and will feature genre icons Roger Perry and Jim Boelsen. If you are a fan of the horror genre and classic tales, please donate to make this film a reality! Check the Kickstarter page below, as well as a link to a fundraising party May 23 if you live around the Amsterdam NY area.

These all promise to be great projects, and you'll be doing so many creative minds a huge favor by donating, so I send my thanks in advance to all who help! Please spread the word!
With winter's end approaching (hopefully,) the warmer weather will bring the beginning of Mix & Master. With the pilot filmed, and the next four episodes written and under review, we take a step closer to this awesome show seeing the light of day. And in order to get others as excited for it as the rest of the cast and myself are, the pilot episode has now gone live for everyone's viewing pleasure!
Now is the time to get yourself well acquainted with The Vault, the area's most beloved recording studio. Get to know Reid and his minions.....err... sorry, coworkers. And fall in love with Green Eggs and Hamilton (And Caleb). Yes, Green Eggs and Hamilton (And Caleb) are destined to be the next big hip hop duo (trio)! I mean, how can you not love these guys?
The Pilot was written a few years ago, and unfortunately my character of Caleb was not written as a substantial character. But due to the charm and all around lovableness of my personality, Caleb is being developed into a full rich character for you to love and buy merchandise of......(side note, Caleb plushie?)
Watch the pilot above and get a feel for the characters, and get your appetite whet for more to come, as this is a series definitely worth watching. You can stay up to tabs on production and episode releases on the Mix & Master Facebook page here, or check back here at my website for updates!
So watch, enjoy, share, and stay tuned for more Green Eggs, Hamilton and Caleb! ........ I mean, Mix & Master!
It's music that people can always relate to. Its music that fuels people in their drive. It makes movies, it makes moments, and it alters feelings. I've always been a fan of all types of music, and realized most of my day goes by accompanied by a life soundtrack. So I'm excited to be a part of a project that combines both my love of acting with my love for music. MIX & Master is a series created by Benjamin Hemingway and the production group, Poorductions. Directed by Justin Stewart, the show is about a recording studio carrying a famous reputation known as "The Vault." In present time, the studio is currently on a steep decline, under the direction of its falling producer, Mark Reid. Reid's boss sends in a new young artist by the name of Claire Palmer, along with a documentation crew to document her progress. At the same time, a new intern John Connolly starts working at the recording studio, his head full of dreams and expectations. But of course, nothing is exactly how people expect it to be, especially in this business. And in this studio particular....well its just better to not have expectations. Check out the trailer for the pilot here:
I've been very lucky with this production, and hold great excitement for it. I was cast in the role of Caleb, the body guard/ third member of a rap duo named "Greene Eggs and Hamilton." Yeah, there's a lot of confusion in that sentence. The character was originally just a body guard for the rap duo, not having any lines in the pilot. However, my audition and presence was so well liked (so I was told) that the creators decided to expand that role of Caleb and make him into an actual full fledged character. So I don't appear much in the pilot, but don't worry. There's much more Caleb to come. Whether or not that's a good thing, only time will tell.....and my acting of course.
What made me even more lucky with this project was that I was asked to also write for the show! That's right, I've officially dipped my pen into the ink well.....although its becoming clear that I should work on my metaphors. Actually I dont even think that's a metaphor....Its a work in progress. However, I've already written an episode, and have a few more to work on, so I'm expanding my talents it seem, and I couldn't ask for a better team to work with!
So. Are you excited yet! Because I sure as hell am! I bet you're asking yourself "But Ulisses, where can I see more of this Mix and Master?" to which I respond, That's a great question Timmy! Poorductions will be having a premiere of the pilot episode this upcoming weekend, 12/13/14! A great night is planned, including the pilot, a comedic stand up performance from Samuel J Gorenstein, who plays Gavin the Engineer in the show, and a musical performance from Claire Palmer (Haley Beauregard) and John Connolly (Ben Katagiri.) And who knows, perhaps you'll see Greene Eggs and Hamilton rolling around, followed by their protection, Caleb (That's me!) It'll all go down at the Troy Arts Center at 6:30 pm. Check out the links below for more information!

Its been a bit since I posted, so I'm going to try and recap a couple of things going on in my journey.
Over the last few months I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with the cast and crew of a local tv show, called MIX & MASTER. Directed by Justin Stewart, Mix & Master has an all star cast and crew out of Upstate New York. I was lucky enough to be cast in the show, and had such a fantastic blast filming the pilot. The show revolves around a recording studio known as The Vault in its declining years, and the insane characters who make up its staff and clients trying to save it.
The pilot has yet to be released, but some promotional work has been released in the form of Youtube videos. If you would like to look up more on this great project, or just stay informed on its release, check out these links to the show's facebook page as well as the two artists featured in the show:

In other news, I am working on a few projects the next few months, as well as expanding a few ideas of my own. While somethings are still under wraps in the working stage, I would like to pitch some fundraising for two projects I am currently apart of!
I am working on a short film in October that is titled EVE. It is directed by Rob Pillans, and features a great Science Fiction plot, revolving around the loss of a man's wife, and what lengths he would go to in order to bring her back to life. We are still looking to raise money for this project, so if you are interested, here is the link to the kickstarter:
In December, I will be apart of a Original Play premiering at the GE Theater in the Proctor's theater in Schenectady, NY. It is written by David Kalish with music by Alex Torres. Its a Hispanic take on A Christmas Carol, following Kevin Martin, a Latino who builds a business teaching other Latinos to ditch their accent and backgrounds to assimilate better into America.
We need help raising a budget for this one, being a new play and the first chance of a new company, DKAT productions. Here is the link to the fundraising site where you can learn more on the play itself, and meet the director, writer, and composer:

I play the role of the ghost of Christmas past, Che Guevara himself.
Please support and donate! We cant do it without you!
This blog serves as an update on the crazy journey I will endure as I follow my dream of acting as a career, because who knows? Maybe this will be my origin story.
